During the conversation, as reported by the official representative of the German government, Stefan Cornelius, the discussion took place in a "constructive and trusting" atmosphere. Merz and Trump agreed on further steps at the advisor level, after which the Chancellor plans to inform European allies.

According to data from the dpa agency, Merz became the first European ally of the U.S. in NATO to discuss the 28-point peace plan with Trump. The conversation lasted about 15 minutes.

Sources from the dpa in the German government reported that European countries are currently working on their "mediating document," which is not yet finalized.

The discussion is planned for the G20 summit in Johannesburg, which will take place on November 22-23. In addition to Merz, participants will include French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Earlier, Donald Trump stated that his administration had given Ukraine a deadline until next Thursday to accept the U.S. peace plan. He emphasized that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "will have to approve" this plan.

Zelensky has also received a draft of the new peace plan and intends to negotiate with Trump in the near future. The White House clarified that this document is not final. Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko published the 28 points of the plan concerning territorial issues, the country's reconstruction, and its political status on Telegram.
