Zelensky added that Kyiv does not intend to take drastic steps but will continue "calm work" with the United States and allies to ensure that important aspects such as the dignity and freedom of the Ukrainian people are included among the points of the peace plan.
He also stressed that these principles are the foundation of Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and future: "We must strive to end the war, but not to destroy Ukraine, Europe, and global peace."
The president warned that the upcoming week will be "very difficult" and eventful, anticipating an increase in information and political pressure that could lead to a split in society. He urged Ukrainians to unite and refrain from "political games."
Meanwhile, Russian media report that Vladimir Putin has commented on the U.S. peace plan for the first time. He noted that Moscow agreed to the initial proposals, but after the meeting in Alaska, the U.S. suspended discussions due to Ukraine's refusal. Putin suggested that as a result, a "modernized" plan consisting of 28 points was developed, adding that Russia also has the text of it.
On the eve, Donald Trump announced that his administration has set a deadline for Ukraine until next Thursday to accept the proposed plan.
It was also reported earlier that Volodymyr Zelensky received an updated draft of the peace plan and hopes for prompt negotiations with the U.S. president.
Additionally, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko posted all 28 points of the document on Telegram, which concern territorial issues, the reconstruction of Ukraine, and its political status.
