FIFA held the draw for the 2026 World Cup: all 12 groups have been determined

The final draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place in Washington, at the famous John F. Kennedy Center. A record number of teams — 48 — will participate in this tournament, divided into 12 groups from A to L.

The host teams for the tournament — the USA, Canada, and Mexico — were pre-assigned to groups D, B, and A, respectively.

Leading global football teams were present at the draw. The reigning champion Argentina was placed in a group with Algeria, Austria, and Jordan. Brazil will play against Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. Other groups also include Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, England, and the Netherlands.

The competition will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and the complete match schedule was published immediately after the draw. Some groups still have vacant spots that will be filled by teams determined in playoff matches.

During the ceremony, an incident occurred: Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni was asked to wear gloves when touching the trophy, which sparked public discussion. Later, FIFA apologized for this episode.

This World Cup will be the first to be held simultaneously in three countries and will be the largest in the tournament's history.
