The U.S. government has decided to allocate $250 million to ensure security during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These funds will be distributed to 11 states where matches will take place, as well as to the capital region. This was reported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

According to the official statement, the allocated funds are intended to enhance capabilities for detecting, identifying, and tracking drones, as well as developing methods for their neutralization. The agency emphasized that these grants will help organize effective protection during the tournament.

A representative of the agency noted that in recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles have been used by criminals and terrorists, creating new threats. "We recognized the need for rapid response to ensure safety during the World Cup, given the growing threat associated with UAVs," he added.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This event will be historic, as it will feature 48 teams for the first time.
