Former player of "Real" and "Barcelona" became the new coach of the Kyrgyzstan national football team

The Kyrgyz Football Union has announced the appointment of Robert Prosinečki, the Croatian specialist, as the head coach of the national team of Kyrgyzstan. The official ceremony took place today, December 10.

In his playing career, Prosinečki played 15 matches for the Yugoslav national team, scoring 4 goals, and 49 matches for the Croatian national team, marking 10 goals.

At the club level, the 56-year-old coach played for teams such as Serbian Red Star (117 matches and 24 goals), Spanish clubs Real Madrid (55 games and 10 goals), Real Oviedo (30 matches and 5 goals), Barcelona (19 matches and 2 goals), Sevilla (20 matches and 4 goals), Belgian Standard (20 matches and 4 goals), as well as English Portsmouth (33 matches and 9 goals).

Prosinečki ended his playing career in 2004 while playing for Zagreb, after which he began coaching Zagreb's Dinamo.

As a head coach, he worked at Red Star (Serbia), Kayserispor and Denizlispor (both Turkey), as well as at Olimpija (Slovenia) and Rudeš (Croatia).

Additionally, he served as the assistant head coach of the Croatian national team and led the national teams of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.

The Kyrgyz national team has already secured a place in the final stage of the Asian Cup, which will take place in January 2027 in Saudi Arabia.
