YULITSA IMENI NASHOGO DRUGA FUCIKA

Yulitsa im. Yuliusa Fucika begins at the meat processing plant buildings. Bypassing the park from the eastern side, it crosses Lenin Avenue and, smoothly bending, heads northwest to the edge of the city. The eastern side of the street opposite the park of the same name is built up with multi-storey buildings, while beyond Lenin Avenue it takes on a rural appearance - here are individual residential houses with household plots.

Between the meat processing plant and the workers' town "Intergelpo," there was a wasteland in the early 1930s, used for the temporary holding of livestock brought to the meat processing plant. In the spring of 1935, the livestock holding point was moved south of the Pishpek station, and its territory was allocated for a park. The future park site was just an ordinary dump.

Over several Sundays, hundreds of workers from "Intergelpo," the meat processing plant, the brewery, and the Pishpek station cleared the area of debris, dug ditches and trenches. Mass tree planting began. 1500 ten-year-old trees were planted, dug up for thinning in the "Krasnaya Zvezda" park. The newspaper "Sovetskaya Kyrgyzstan" reported in its April 20, 1935 issue: "The city economy committee has launched work on the layout and planting of a culture and recreation park in the 'Intergelpo' area... 18,000 rubles have been allocated."

Twenty years later, by the mid-1950s, it had become a real park and was named after the Frunze factory. Here, alleys were landscaped, flower beds and lawns were laid out, sculptures were installed, and a cinema, stage, and various pavilions were built.

In April 1957, the park and street were named after Julius Fucik, a Czechoslovak national hero. Julius Fucik (1903-1943) was a journalist and communist who visited Kyrgyzstan twice - in 1930 and 1935. During his stay in Frunze, he visited the industrial enterprises of the "Intergelpo" cooperative and met with the city's workers. In 1930, as a sign of respect, he was elected an honorary member of the city council; he was awarded the title of honorary member of the Kyrgyz cavalry division and honorary correspondent for the newspapers "Sovetskaya Kyrgyzstan" and "Kyzyl Kyrgyzstan."

On Sunday, August 24, 1957, as reported by "Sovetskaya Kyrgyzstan," a ceremonial opening of the Fucik Park took place in the summer cinema.

After the meeting, there were mass festivities, games, dances, and performances by amateur artistic groups. Brass bands played, and artists from the Kyrgyz Philharmonic performed.

The park also has its memorial places. In 1930, near the repair and mechanical workshops, the "Intergelpo" club was built. It was inaugurated on the 13th anniversary of the Great October Revolution, as evidenced by a memorial plaque. The text reads: "The main building of the club was built in 1930 by the Czechoslovak industrial cooperative 'Intergelpo.' Here, in this club, during his second visit, Julius Fucik spoke before the workers of the cooperative." In those years, the club was one of the few cultural and educational centers in the city and was very popular.

If you walk along the right path of the central alley, near a huge flowerbed, among other trees, there are two trees - a type of elm. On two metal plates attached to stands, it is engraved that they were planted by Y. Fucik. On June 10, 1981, a ceremonial laying of a monument to the Czechoslovak national hero took place in the park.

On the street, at the intersection with Lenin Avenue, where the main enterprise of the "Kirgizmebel" association is now located, there were carpentry workshops of the "Intergelpo" cooperative in the late 1920s and 1930s. Further down the street, on the right side, is the I. V. Panfilov Leather Factory. At the entrance to the factory, there is a memorial plaque that reads: "Here, in 1925, the Czechoslovak industrial cooperative 'Intergelpo' built the first production facilities of the leather factory." Now it is a large industrial enterprise in the city.

Let's go down the street a little further. On the left side, the buildings of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Experimental Repair Plant of the production association "Selkhozremont" stretch out. This now large plant, equipped with new equipment and high-performance machines, specializes in the repair of agricultural machinery engines. Its products are exported to 26 countries around the world. It started as a locksmith workshop of the "Intergelpo" cooperative. On the building of the plant management, you can see a memorial plaque that reads: "Here, in 1926, the Czechoslovak industrial cooperative built the first repair and mechanical workshops."
