Outdoor Sculpture Museum – Oak Park. Video
Where is the Open-Air Sculpture Museum located in Bishkek?
The Open-Air Sculpture Museum is located in the central part of Bishkek, where a beautiful oak park was established in 1980, and in the center of which a fountain called "12 bowls" was installed. The museum was created in 1984, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Kyrgyz SSR. All sculptures were donated to the city by Kyrgyz sculptors who participated in the international symposium of sculptors in Kyrgyzstan. Most of them were metal, concrete, and wooden sculptures brought by participants of the All-Union Symposium of Sculptors held in Frunze.
Initially, both group and individual sculptures were installed in Oak Park, right in the open air. There were a total of 93 sculptures made of stone and metal by sculptors from Kyrgyzstan, which were donated to the capital, and since then the park has become a kind of sculpture museum. The museum has periodically been replenished with new exhibits.

Before the revolution in 1884, the Nikolskaya Church was built on the site of the park, and the first oak trees were planted by a local priest. However, in the 1930s, this church was destroyed, and the development of the park continued, with several settlers from Russia continuing this glorious tradition. One of these enthusiasts was the botanist A.M. Fetisov from St. Petersburg, who came here in 1879. He planted trees here with his students and became the founder of the city parks of Bishkek. Oak Park is a true decoration of the city, and with the establishment of the open-air sculpture museum, it has become yet another attraction of Bishkek.
