According to Kyrgyzhydromet, a sharp deterioration in weather conditions is forecasted in Kyrgyzstan on January 16 and 17: snow is expected in some areas, and intense precipitation may occur in certain regions. Wet snow may cling to wires and trees.

Fog is also possible across the country. Snow drifts and ice may form on roads, and snowdrifts may occur in mountainous areas. It is expected that the western wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s.

From January 17 to 19, the air temperature will drop significantly: in the Chui and Talas valleys, nighttime temperatures may reach -9 to -14 degrees, while daytime temperatures will be -1 to -6. In the valley areas of Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, nighttime temperatures will be -2 to -7, and daytime temperatures will be -2 to +3. In the foothill areas, nighttime temperatures are expected to be -11 to -16, and daytime temperatures -2 to -7; in the Issyk-Kul basin, -7 to -12 at night and -4 to +1 during the day. In Naryn region and mountainous areas, temperatures may drop to -23 to -28 at night and -9 to -14 during the day, while in high-altitude areas, temperatures may reach -26 to -31 at night and -9 to -14 during the day. In the Suusamyr valley, temperatures may reach -30 to -35 at night and -11 to -16 during the day.

This unstable weather condition may create difficulties for communication enterprises, energy, and utility services. In case of heavy precipitation, visibility on roads will deteriorate, complicating traffic movement.

Considering the expected precipitation from January 16 to 18, 2026, there is also a threat of avalanches, snowdrifts, snow accumulation, and icy conditions in the mountainous areas of Kyrgyzstan and on the following roads:

- Bishkek—Osh 121-138 km;

- Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kiya 68-74 km, 86-101 km;

- Krasnaya Gorka—Ak-Tash 0-3 km;

- Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alayku 65-110 km;

- Karakol—Engilchek 45-90 km;

- Balikchy—Kazaraman—Jalal-Abad 326-349 km.

When traveling through avalanche-prone sections of roads, it is essential to maintain a strict distance of 500 meters between vehicles.
