PM2.5 refers to fine particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. They include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances lead to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
As of March 8, Bishkek ranks 34th in the world for air pollution levels (11:00).
