The main source of pollution in Bishkek is considered to be PM2.5.

PM2.5 includes solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns. For comparison, their diameter is 30 times smaller than a human hair. These particles are a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality in large cities.
As of February 18, Bishkek ranks 48th in the world air quality ranking (data as of 11:00).
