The main source of pollution in Bishkek is considered to be PM2.5.

PM2.5 consists of fine particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. They include particles of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to reduced visibility, typical of large cities.
In the global air quality ranking as of February 11, Bishkek ranks 74th (as of 5:00 PM).
