
At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to agricultural policy and ecology, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, presented a report on preparations for the spring fieldwork. He noted that in 2026, the commissioning of 893 new wells is planned.
The minister also reported that the ministry has prepared 203 units of agricultural machinery, while local authorities have ensured the readiness of about 1,000 more units.
Projects for the construction and design of irrigation systems will be implemented at 139 sites.
As for drip irrigation, it will be implemented on an area of 21,000 hectares. Of this area, 5,200 hectares will be funded by the state, while farmers will invest in 14,740 hectares.
"Currently, 57,000 tons of seeds have been prepared, which is 82.5% of the required volume. For some crops, such as soybeans, tobacco, and rice, the level of provision reaches 100%. Additionally, by the spring season, 22 nurseries have prepared more than 15 million seedlings for planting in 2026," he added.
