During a meeting of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Erkayim Seitkazieva expressed concern from the residents of the Issyk-Ata district, who are demanding the reopening of the livestock market, as the nearest one is located in Kemin.
In response, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry Bakyt Torobaev stated that the establishment of a livestock market is the responsibility of local self-government bodies.
“The Ministry of Agriculture can only exercise control. The Tokmok market was given a one-year deadline to comply with sanitary standards, but unfortunately, nothing was done. As a result, the market was closed. Across the country, 48 livestock markets that do not meet sanitary requirements will also be closed,” he added.
