The livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to another area, and modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built in its place. This information was provided by Mayor Altynbek Ergeshov during a meeting with traders.

The livestock market in Tokmok is one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan, where trade in livestock, including cows, sheep, horses, and bulls, takes place.

According to the mayor, the current market does not meet sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. Its proximity to highways and residential areas poses a threat to the safety and health of the population.

In light of the above, a decision was made to move the market to a new location, situated not far from the current site but further away from roads and residential buildings. The mayor noted that this will ensure safety for both sellers and residents.

The mayor also mentioned that the area of the former livestock market has great potential for urban development, with plans to attract both local and foreign investors for the implementation of new projects.

The project includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space focused on technology and innovation.

According to the local administration, the new livestock market will have modern infrastructure and comply with all necessary sanitary and veterinary requirements.

Representatives of the Chuy district administration added that the new livestock market will be built in the eastern part of Vinogradnoye. “Exact data on the area of the site and the start dates of work are not yet available. The project is in the planning stage, and complete information will be available after all documents are finalized,” they said.

Traders engaged in livestock farming noted that the Tokmok market had one significant advantage. “If the new market is located at a reasonable distance from the road and meets all standards, we will be able to get used to the new place. However, the Tokmok market had the convenience of being close to food and spontaneous markets, where necessary purchases could be made immediately,” the traders shared their opinions.

Turmush previously reported that the livestock market in Tokmok will close on January 1, 2026. Regulatory authorities found that the market was operating in violation of regulations, charging fees for the placement and sale of agricultural animals.

At the same time, the owners did not invest the necessary funds in the development and maintenance of infrastructure.

The closure was prompted by ongoing violations of sanitary, veterinary, and environmental standards, as well as non-compliance with safety requirements.

Despite the directives from regulatory authorities, the owners did not take measures to rectify the violations.

Trade in livestock in this area has been suspended. During the closure, farmers and buyers are advised to turn to other markets in the region or use online platforms for remote trading.
