In Tokmok, located in the Chui region, plans are underway to relocate the livestock market to another area. Modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built at the current market site. This was announced by Mayor Altynbek Ergeshov during his communication with local traders.

The livestock market in this city is one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan and plays an important role in livestock trade in the Chui district, where various types of animals can be purchased, including cows, sheep, horses, and bulls.
According to the mayor, the existing market does not meet modern sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. Its proximity to the highway and residential areas poses threats to the safety and health of residents.

In light of the above, a decision has been made to move the market to a new location near the current site, but away from the road and residential zones. This will create safer and more convenient conditions for both buyers and sellers.

The mayor also emphasized that the territory of the old livestock market has significant potential for further development of the city. In the future, there are plans to attract investors, including foreign ones, to implement new projects on this site.

The project includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

According to local authorities, the new livestock market will aim to create the necessary conditions: modern infrastructure and compliance with all sanitary and veterinary norms for the convenience and safety of both sellers and clients.

Representatives of the Chui District State Administration added that the new market will be built in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoye; however, details regarding the area and the start dates of construction have not yet been determined. The project is in the planning stage, and details will be announced after all necessary formalities are completed.

Traders engaged in livestock sales expressed the opinion that the old market had an important advantage. “If the new market is not too far from the road and the conditions meet the standards, we will be able to adapt. However, the Tokmok market had one major convenience — nearby were food and spontaneous markets where you could buy necessary items. Now, after selling livestock, we will have to go back to Tokmok for shopping,” they said.

Turmush previously reported that the livestock market in Tokmok will be closed from January 1, 2026. This decision was made after inspections conducted by regulatory authorities, which established that the market was operating on a commercial basis with charges for housing animals.
At the same time, the market owners did not make the necessary investments in the development and maintenance of sanitary and veterinary infrastructure.
The closure of the market is due to systematic violations of sanitary and veterinary requirements, as well as non-compliance with safety and infrastructure standards.
Despite repeated directives from the authorized bodies, the owners did not take measures to rectify the situation and modernize the infrastructure.
Animal trading in this area is being discontinued. Farmers and sellers are advised to use other existing markets in the region or remote platforms for selling livestock. All sales operations will be conducted at specialized sites that meet established requirements.
