Traders and farmers should consider alternative venues for selling their products
The authorities of Tokmak have decided to close the livestock market after a video showcasing its trading conditions sparked widespread public outcry. This information was provided by the local mayor's office.
The video, published by one of the visitors, captured the market's problems, especially after rain, when the area becomes unsuitable for trading.
In response to the criticism, local authorities decided to improve the market. Additionally, the presidential envoy in the Chuy region, Azamat Osmonov, visited the market and noted that the condition of the trading and access roads is a "shame for the region."
As a result, due to violations of veterinary and sanitary norms, as well as sanitary-epidemiological and environmental requirements, local authorities announced the closure of the livestock market, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Farmers, sellers, and buyers are advised to seek other places for trading. The municipality will announce when the market will resume operations later.
