Starting January 1, the livestock market in Tokmok will cease operations, as announced by the city administration.

The market, which operated on a commercial basis, failed to meet the necessary sanitary and technical conditions, which led to its closure.

The closure is related to regular violations of veterinary and sanitary standards, as well as non-compliance with ecological and safety requirements.

As a result of the inspection, the presidential envoy in the Chuy region expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the market, pointing to unsanitary conditions, flooded walkways, and a lack of control over the import of livestock, as well as inadequate maintenance of veterinary documentation.

A public outcry was triggered by a video that appeared on social media: after the rain, the market area was flooded, and dirt and waste were observed everywhere.

Despite the impending closure, temporary improvement activities were carried out in December on the market premises, including gravel filling, installation of video cameras, and enhancement of lighting.
