In the Chui region, rumors about the closure of the livestock market located in the village of Vinogradnoe are actively being discussed. To clarify the situation, a correspondent from Turmush contacted the district state administration. Administration representatives assured that the market continues to operate and will not be closed. According to them, “yesterday, there was virtually no livestock market in the Chui region. This happened due to rumors that the market in Kemin is free, and many sellers went there. However, as we learned, the livestock market in Chym-Korgon also charged fees, so there was no free market.”

“In the first days of operation at our market, we made trading free, conducted livestock slaughter, received a blessing (‘bata’), and organized an official opening. The Tokmok-Chui region has a long history as an important trading center for livestock. Our market operated successfully, and we do not consider ourselves competitors — it is important for us that the markets are convenient for people,” the akimat reported.

According to information from the district administration, despite some buyers moving to the village of Chym-Korgon, the livestock market in the Chui region continues its operations. “Nevertheless, we are actively working on improving conditions. We are also considering the possibility of developing a schedule for market operating days,” local authorities added.

In December 2025, Turmush reported that the livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to a new site, and modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built on the current market site.

The livestock market in Tokmok was one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan, serving as the main place for trading various animals such as cows, sheep, horses, and bulls.

Inspections revealed that the existing market does not meet sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. Proximity to highways and residential areas poses threats to the safety and comfort of local residents.
In light of the above, a decision was made to relocate the market to a new location near the current site, but away from roads and residential buildings. The mayor noted that this would ensure safety and convenience for both sellers and buyers.

The mayor also emphasized that the current territory of the livestock market has great potential for the city's development, and in the future, there are plans to attract investors, including foreign ones, to implement new projects on this site.

The project includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space — a hub focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and creative industries.

According to the municipality, the new site for the livestock market, which will be relocated from Tokmok, is planned to be built in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoe. “However, at this moment, we cannot provide exact data on the area and the timeline for the start of work. The project is in the planning stage, and complete information will be announced upon completion of all necessary documentation,” the administration reported.

Merchants involved in livestock sales noted an important advantage of the Tokmok market. “If the new market is conveniently located and meets standards, we will get used to the new place. But the Tokmok market had one significant benefit: there were food and spontaneous markets nearby where various goods could be purchased. Now, after selling livestock, we will have to go to Tokmok for shopping,” the merchants shared their thoughts.

Turmush previously reported that the decision to close the private livestock market in Tokmok will take effect on January 1, 2026. During inspections, regulatory authorities established that the market operated on a commercial basis with fees for the placement and sale of animals.

At the same time, the market owners did not provide the necessary investments for the development and maintenance of infrastructure.

The closure of the market was caused by systematic violations of veterinary-sanitary and environmental norms, as well as non-compliance with safety requirements.

Despite several orders and warnings from authorized bodies, the owners did not take action to eliminate violations and modernize the infrastructure.
