According to information provided by the head of the Chym-Korgon rural administration, Almaz Dubanaev, about 10,000 people came to the market on January 25. He noted that “the livestock market in the Chym-Korgon rural area is already operational” and that all necessary conditions for trade have been created on its territory. The safety and order at the market are under constant control by the staff of the Kemin district internal affairs department.
The main services are working to ensure safe and legal conditions for the market's operation. Approximately 2,000 vehicles arrived at the market along with the 10,000 people, which caused parking difficulties, as it could not accommodate all the cars, Dubanaev added.
As reported by Turmush in December 2025, the livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to a new site, while modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built at its former location.
This market in Tokmok was one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan, where various types of livestock, including cows, sheep, and horses, were traded.
During inspections, it was found that the current livestock market does not meet the necessary sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. The proximity of the market to the highway and residential houses also poses threats to the safety and comfort of local residents.
Considering the above, it was decided to relocate the market to a new site located not far from the current location, but at a safe distance from the road and residential areas. The mayor noted that this decision will improve safety and convenience for all trade participants.
Furthermore, the mayor emphasized that the territory of the existing market has great potential for development. In the future, there are plans to attract both local and foreign investors to implement new projects.
The project includes the creation of multifunctional buildings and business spaces focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to local authorities, the city administration intends to create all necessary conditions at the new livestock market, including modern infrastructure and compliance with sanitary and veterinary standards, to ensure comfort and safety for both sellers and buyers.
Representatives of the Chui district state administration reported that the new market will be built in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoe. However, at the moment, there is no precise information about the size of the site and the timeline for the start of construction, as the project is in the planning stage. Complete information will be provided after all procedures are completed.
Traders involved in buying and selling livestock noted that the Tokmok market had a clear advantage: its proximity to other markets where necessary goods could be immediately purchased. “If the new market is not too far from the road and meets all standards, we will get used to it. But now, after selling livestock, we will have to go to Tokmok for shopping,” they shared.
Turmush previously reported that a decision has been made to close the private livestock market in Tokmok starting January 1, 2026. An inspection showed that the market operated on a commercial basis, charging fees for the placement and sale of animals.
However, the owners did not make the necessary investments in the development and maintenance of the infrastructure, which led to the closure.
The main reasons for the closure were systematic violations of sanitary and veterinary standards, as well as non-compliance with safety standards.
Despite warnings, the market owners did not take action to rectify the situation and modernize the infrastructure.
