In the Chuy region, in the city of Tokmok, the construction of two new livestock markets has begun in the villages of Vinogradnoe and Chym-Korgon following the closure of the old livestock market.
Local authorities reported that construction is underway on an 11-hectare plot of land in Chym-Korgon. Almaz Dubanaev, the head of the Chym-Korgon rural council, specified that 5 hectares are allocated specifically for the livestock market, while the remaining area will accommodate trade and service facilities, including cafeterias, shops, and points of sale for construction materials.

The construction includes covered trading rows, sanitary facilities, a prayer room, and police and veterinary service points. Currently, water supply and electricity supply have already been established. In the coming days, locations for installing video surveillance will be determined based on recommendations from the local police department. The work is being carried out by a contractor who won the tender, while local residents are involved in the construction of additional facilities on an ashara basis.

In December 2025, it was reported that the livestock market in Tokmok would be relocated to a new site where modern multifunctional facilities are planned. The mayor of Tokmok, Altynbek Ergeshov, emphasized that the old market does not meet modern sanitary and urban planning standards, and its location near the highway poses threats to the safety and comfort of local residents.

The relocation of the market will provide safer trading conditions and increase the development potential of the area where the current market is located. In the future, there are plans to attract investors for the implementation of new projects, including multifunctional buildings and business spaces focused on technology and innovation.

Representatives of the Chuy District State Administration reported on the construction of a new livestock market in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoe; however, details regarding the timelines and size of the plot have not yet been provided, as the project is in the planning stage.

Traders expressed hope that the new market would not be too far from the road and would meet all standards. They noted that the Tokmok market had one important advantage—the proximity to food and informal markets, which allowed them to make necessary purchases immediately after selling livestock.

It was previously reported that the private livestock market in Tokmok would close on January 1, 2026, due to systematic violations of veterinary and sanitary standards, as well as a lack of necessary investments in infrastructure. Farmers and sellers can currently redirect to other markets in the region or use online platforms to sell livestock.
