Kasymaliev noted that between 1 to 3 billion soms are allocated annually from the republican budget for the development of the irrigation system, which significantly exceeds the previously allocated 200 million soms for the entire country.
“It is planned to construct 44 irrigation facilities to provide the population with irrigation water. Currently, the reconstruction of 10 of them has been completed, which has allowed the commissioning of 5,680 hectares of new irrigated land, improved water supply for 37,953 hectares, and enhanced the reclamation status of 12,253 hectares. From 2024 to 2030, 106 daily and decadal regulation pools with a total capacity of 953.74 million cubic meters will be built. In particular, 27 such facilities with a volume of 188.4 million cubic meters are planned in the Chui region,” he commented.
Currently, work has been completed on 7 pools in the region, 2 are under construction, and 3 facilities are in the design phase.
Kasymaliev added that the new pool on the Ak-Suu River with a capacity of 4.5 million cubic meters will ensure complete water supply for irrigated lands in this area and increase the level of water supply for 6,500 hectares in four ayil aimaks.
“The implementation of this project will have a positive impact on the agriculture of the region, improve the welfare of farming households, and serve as an incentive for the development of the socio-economic sphere,” he added.
To date, 2,700 kilometers of canals and 4,263 hydraulic structures have been restored in the republic, and 142 pumping units have been repaired and replaced. For irrigation needs, 301 units of specialized equipment and service vehicles have been purchased.
