In Osh, the price for 1 kg of beef has reached 750 soms, which is an increase of 70 soms over the past few days.

Vendors at the meat markets indicate that the price increase is related to the rising cost of purchased cattle.

“We buy cattle at 720 soms per kilogram, which forces us to set the price for beef at 750 soms. However, for larger purchases, we have a price of 730 soms,” shared one of the traders.

Currently, lamb is sold at a price of 720–750 soms per kilogram. Sellers note that the price of meat is determined by market factors, particularly the prices of cattle and sheep.

As reported by Manas Mukhammed uulu, the head of the antimonopoly regulation department in Osh, the Ministry of Economy had previously introduced a 90-day price control on meat, which expires today, November 10.

“The price control ends today, and there is currently no information on whether a new order will be issued or if the control will be extended. We do not have the right to inspect meat shops without an order from the Ministry of Economy, so right now we can only conduct informational work,” he added.

Mukhammed uulu also reported that earlier about 20 meat traders were fined amounts ranging from 3,000 to 13,000 soms for unjustified price increases, but this occurred under the existing order from the Ministry of Economy.

At the end of October, Turmush reported that sellers in Uzgen were fined for selling meat at inflated prices.

According to information from the municipality, on October 23, the mayor's office, together with the Osh regional department of the antimonopoly regulation service, conducted a raid on trading points to check compliance with state price regulation on meat.

As a result of the raid, sellers who did not comply with the established prices were identified. Six of them, selling meat for 700–720 soms per kilogram, were fined 3,000 soms each.

Let us remind you that a maximum allowable retail price for meat (beef and lamb, excluding the fillet part) has been established in the Osh region in the range of 620–680 soms per kilogram, depending on the area.

The price control was introduced for 90 calendar days with the possibility of revision in case of changes in the market situation. Sellers are required to strictly adhere to the established rates, display prices in their showcases, and use accurate scales.
