So far, discussions have taken place in four out of the seven districts of the city, while the remaining districts are scheduled for today and tomorrow.
According to information provided by the local bus depot, which is under the management of the Transport, Tourism, and Digitalization Department of Karakol, a fare increase of 5 soms is planned.
If previously the fare for schoolchildren was 10 soms, it will now rise to 15 soms. For other residents of the city, the price will increase to 20 soms.
Previously, pensioners also benefited from the fare of 10 soms, but now they will also have to pay 20 soms, just like all other categories of citizens.
This decision is justified by the rising prices of fuel and spare parts for vehicles.
“The bus depot serves 17 routes within the city, and our main task is to ensure the safe transportation of passengers, organize dispatch management, and maintain the stable operation of buses on designated routes. We also take care of the timely replacement of faulty buses and the quality of transportation. Discount categories of citizens continue to receive services,” noted representatives of the bus depot.
However, as they emphasize, there is currently a serious problem related to the sharp rise in fuel and auto parts prices. “Prices for diesel have significantly increased, and it is unavailable at some gas stations. We are forced to appeal to the city authorities for a fare increase of 5 soms. This is a necessary step, as drivers need to not only refuel the buses but also regularly repair them and support their families. At the moment, most residents participating in the discussion understand our situation,” they added.
Meanwhile, on social media, residents of Karakol are actively expressing their opinions about the upcoming price increase, which is causing a wide public resonance.
