This year, the government has set coal prices ranging from 5500 to 8500 soms per ton.

In the Jalal-Abad region, including the city of Manas and the Suzak district, coal is sold at the established state prices. According to the regulations, the price of coal must be clearly indicated at the points of sale. Although most sellers comply with this requirement, some of them, despite offering coal at the established prices, do not display price tags.

To clarify the situation, representatives of the antimonopoly regulation department in the Jalal-Abad region held meetings with sellers, reminding them of the need not to exceed the established prices.

A Turmush correspondent found out that with the onset of cold weather, the demand for coal has significantly increased. Local residents note that current coal prices are higher than last year, and preparing for the winter season has become a real challenge for the population.

Ulan Bekbotoev, a resident of Manas, shared that his family needs about 3–4 tons of coal per year. He noted that coal prices have risen compared to last year.

“The cost of fuel has increased, and coal has also become more expensive. We understand the reasons, but it is still a burden for us. We need to heat the house and buy coal. The price has increased by about 2 soms. I specifically visited several sales points and confirmed this,” Bekbotoev shared.

In Manas and the Suzak district, coal from Markay and Alai is in the highest demand. Sellers report that sales depend on the needs of buyers.

“People primarily pay attention to the quality of coal rather than the price. They say that low-quality coal burns poorly, so they prefer higher quality, even if it is more expensive. Coal priced at 8500 soms per ton sells well. Many have already started preparing for winter since September,” the sellers noted.

Kanzharbek Ermekov, head of the regional antimonopoly regulation department, reported that since October, the government has approved official coal prices.

“In our region, coal prices range from 5500 to 8500 soms per ton. In the Toguz-Toro district, coal is supplied from Kara-Keche at a price of 5500 soms per ton,” he added.
