“I graduated from the embroidery department at the Frunze educational institution named after Suymonkul Chokmorov. This craft was inherited from my mother, who was a talented artisan. I also chose this path and now work with wool. I make felt and create various souvenirs. For the past three years, I have been actively engaged in my favorite work, participating in exhibitions and learning a lot from other artisans. Every step is a new experience. Even when I go to bed, thoughts about new products do not leave me. For me, each piece is a project that I develop and create by hand,” she shared.
At one of the exhibitions, foreign guests showed great interest in the felt beads created by Kerimzhan. They bought them to give as gifts to others.
“I was dressed in a national costume, and many foreigners approached me to take pictures. At that moment, I was especially proud of my culture and of being Kyrgyz. Sometimes I cannot evaluate my work myself, but people give it the recognition it deserves. I always say: every item takes time because it is handmade,” she noted.
Kerimzhan also emphasized that felt stands out for its natural quality and durability.
“I thank fate that my husband is also a craftsman: while I work with wool, he makes metal products. We have five sons and one daughter,” she added.
