On November 1, the Kyrgyz police will celebrate its 101st anniversary.

In connection with this date, Turmush is launching a series of materials dedicated to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Major of police and juvenile affairs inspector of the Moscow district of Chui region, Aydai Ibraeva, has been serving in law enforcement for 19 years.

Aydai was born on July 26, 1988, in Bishkek. She recalls with a smile an incident from her childhood that became decisive in her choice of profession — to become a police officer.

“I studied at one of the schools in Bishkek. My mother owned a small shop, and since I was the youngest of three children, I always rushed to help her after school. Sometimes I even sold goods and served customers.

One day, a middle-aged man entered the shop, clearly inebriated. He stood for a moment, then grabbed several items and ran out. Noticing this, I chased after him, shouting, ‘Stop, thief!’ — now, looking back, I find it both funny and awkward.

On my way, I encountered a cadet from the police academy, who also joined the chase, caught the thief, and returned my belongings. He approached me and said, ‘Is this yours? Here you go.’ I just nodded in gratitude and watched him leave for a long time.

At home, I told my mother about the incident. She laughed and asked, ‘Did you run with your hair all messy?’ — and she laughed again. I felt so embarrassed that I almost cried. At that moment, I thought, ‘That guy is going to be a police officer. I want to be a police officer too. I will catch thieves and protect people.’

Since then, I began preparing for my dream. When no one was watching, I marched and kept order on the street. Once, while riding the bus, I saw that same cadet again. We exchanged smiles.

A friend once remarked, ‘You’ve changed; even your walk and way of speaking are different. Have you fallen in love?’ I just laughed because she didn’t know that in my dreams, I had already become a police officer. In 2006, I graduated from school and enrolled in the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after Major General of Police E. Aliyev, which I successfully completed in 2011,” recalls Major Ibraeva.

After the academy, Aydai worked as a forensic expert in the Lenin and Sverdlovsk districts. One case from that time particularly stood out to her:

“A man entered a pharmacy, took some medicine, and asked for water. When the pharmacist stepped out for a moment, he climbed over the counter, attacked her, and escaped through the window.

After receiving the signal at the police station, we began an operational investigation. By analyzing fingerprints on the glass and window, we managed to identify the criminal — a 35-year-old man who had recently been released from prison. He was found and punished according to the law,” shares the police major.

Aydai Ibraeva has been awarded the Ministry of Internal Affairs medals “Aзамат-3” and “Aзамат-2.” Since November 2024, she has been working as a juvenile affairs inspector in the Moscow district department of internal affairs in Chui region.

She is pleased with the proactive and active teenagers but worries that many children spend too much time on their phones:

“Phones provide access to news and games from around the world. However, some children receive information through social media that is not appropriate for their age. This can distort their perception. Unfortunately, parents are increasingly less involved in monitoring their children,” she notes with regret.

Aydai is married to Colonel of police Daniyar, and they have a son and a daughter.
