According to the new estimate, Russian farmers are expected to harvest 87.5 million tons of wheat, which is 1% more than indicated in November and 7% higher than last season's harvest level.
The yield is projected to be 3.3 tons per hectare, which is 12% above last year's figures.
The methodology of the U.S. Department of Agriculture takes into account the export of products by marketing years rather than calendar years. This period is defined as the time when the harvested crop is sold.
The marketing year for each exporting country is calculated individually and lasts for 12 months.
For Russian wheat, the marketing year covers the period from July of the current year to June of the following year. Thus, the 2025/26 season begins on July 1, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2026.
In 2025, Russia ranks second among wheat suppliers to Kyrgyzstan, providing one-third of the import of this product.
