In the village of Ak-Shirak, located in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, an incident involving a snow leopard (or ibex) was recorded on January 29, 2026, around 4:00 AM. This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Information about the incident became available thanks to a video posted on Instagram. The footage, taken by the homeowner, shows the events that occurred in the yard.
According to the owner, the wild predator sneaked into the yard and attacked a goat. He went outside after his dog started barking, and at that moment, the ibex had already grabbed its prey. It is noted that the predator had previously visited this yard as well.
It is likely that the ibex is already of an older age, as it was unable to fully carry away and bite its catch, which may indicate a decline in its hunting skills.
The homeowner notes that the predator sometimes appears in the village, and its tracks can be seen near some houses. This time, it headed towards the Teski pasture.
The Ministry of Natural Resources strongly urges residents to be cautious when encountering wild animals, to follow safety measures, and to promptly notify the relevant services about such incidents.
