A 6th-grade student of the children's school of arts (music direction) in the At-Bashinsky district of the Naryn region, Nuraly Talaibekov, is engaged in playing the komuz.

He fell in love with the art of playing the komuz from childhood and strives to introduce the world to the national culture.

“This year marks seven years since I first held a komuz. During this time, I have participated in many competitions and achieved significant success. I have seen different places and gained experience. Last year, I successfully completed my studies and received a diploma. Now I continue to pursue further education. Thanks to the komuz, God willing, we will go to Turkey. The Turkish people truly value the komuz. They know well that our ancestors are Kyrgyz. They regard the komuz as an honorable instrument. The Turks warmly welcome Kyrgyz people and treat them with respect,” noted the young komuz player.

According to Nuraly, he has previously participated in several major competitions. One of his greatest achievements is winning a prize in the chopo chooru category. He is currently showcasing his skills at the international competition "Dostuk Shany".

“The komuz for us is not just a musical instrument. When people say ‘Kyrgyz,’ the first thing that comes to mind is Manas Ata, and then the komuz. Therefore, it can be said that the komuz is a symbol of the Kyrgyz people. Only those who have tried to play it truly understand its deep meaning and spiritual power,” he said.

Playing the komuz holds a special place in the Talaibekov family. At home, his father and many relatives play the komuz. This has further intensified his interest in the art.

“In my childhood, I recited excerpts from the epic ‘Manas’. I participated in wrestling competitions and arithmetic contests. Additionally, I learned to play the kyl kiyak and the piano. Now I am self-studying the guitar. At the moment, I know over 40 melodies. The most important thing on stage is not to be nervous. If you are nervous, you can lose your focus during the performance,” he added.

The support of his family plays a significant role in the success of the young talent. He also expressed gratitude to his mentor, Nazgul Zhologenova, particularly noting her effort and trust.

Currently, Nuraly is in the 8th grade at the secondary school named after Karybek uulu Akmataaly. In the future, he aims to further glorify the national instrument and introduce the world to Kyrgyz culture.
