Sadyr Japarov and Mikhail Shvydkoy Discussed Cooperation Between Russia and Kyrgyzstan

On February 25, a meeting took place between the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, and Mikhail Shvydkoy, who is the Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation. The meeting discussed current issues related to strengthening cultural ties and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, as reported by the press service of the President's administration.

The President noted that cultural interaction serves as an important foundation for the development of dialogue and mutual understanding between peoples. He mentioned the successful holding of the Days of Russian Culture in Kyrgyzstan in 2025 and expressed hope that the opening of the Kyrgyz House of Science and Culture in Moscow, which will take place in the near future, will be a significant step in strengthening cultural ties.

Shvydkoy emphasized that 2028, which will mark the centenary of the birth of Chingiz Aitmatov, will be an important date for both countries. He also noted that this year coincides with the 200th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy. In this regard, a joint approach to celebrating these significant dates was proposed, including the creation of an organizing committee with the participation of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness for further cooperation and expressed confidence that joint efforts in the field of culture and humanitarian dialogue would contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
