In the Kyrgyz Republic, sea buckthorn occupies an area of 200 to 400 hectares of agricultural land. This became known on March 16, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to agricultural policy, environmental protection, and other issues, where Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mirbek Duyshiev spoke.

He also mentioned that chamomile is cultivated on an area of 80 to 150 hectares, and in addition, rose hips and ferula are grown in the country.

In total, medicinal plants grow on 1,200 hectares in Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, a draft law was also discussed regarding amendments to a number of legislative acts of the country, including the laws "On the Protection and Use of Plant Life" and "On the Development of Agriculture in the KR." This discussion took place in the second reading.
