According to information published on Friday by the General Customs Administration of Mongolia, the volume of coal exports in the first 11 months of the current year amounted to 73.8 million tons.

The report states that this result is 0.3% lower than the figures for the same period in 2022.

The mining sector continues to be one of the key drivers of Mongolia's economy, as the country possesses significant reserves of natural resources, including gold, silver, copper, and coal.

The Tavan Tolgoi coal deposit, located in the South Gobi province of Mongolia, is one of the largest undeveloped deposits of coking and thermal coal in the world and accounts for a significant portion of the country's coal production. The estimated reserves of this deposit are 6.5 billion tons, of which a quarter is high-quality coking coal.

In 2024, Mongolia, being a landlocked country, achieved a record export level of 83.7 million tons.
