According to published data from the NSU, during the specified period, Mongolia exported 2,976 tons of combed cashmere, amounting to $244.1 million.
As part of the "White Gold" program initiated by President Khurelsukh Ukhna, the government of Mongolia plans to invest ₮198 billion ($57.5 million) to expand cashmere processing capacities in the country.
By 2028, it is planned to achieve 100 percent primary processing of cashmere in the domestic market and 40 percent deep processing.
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia expects that revenues from cashmere exports will amount to approximately $700 million.
Currently, there are about 50 enterprises operating in Mongolia with a total processing capacity of 119,000 tons of combed cashmere.
