According to the legislation of Mongolia, the country celebrates nine state holidays and anniversaries each year.

One of these holidays is the birthday of the Great Genghis Khan, which is celebrated according to the lunar calendar on the first day of the first winter month of 1162 (the Year of the Water Horse). In 2025, this event falls on Friday, November 21, and will be marked as a state holiday.

Tomorrow marks 863 years since the birth of the Great Genghis Khan. Since 2012, this day has been a state holiday and a day off in Mongolia.

As part of the celebrations, ceremonies dedicated to the State Flag of Mongolia are held, along with various festive events and competitions in traditional wrestling.
