Currently, there are 12 official holidays celebrated in Kyrgyzstan:
January 1 — New Year
January 7 — Christmas
February 23 — Defender of the Fatherland Day
March 8 — International Women's Day
March 21 — Nooruz
May 1 — Labor Day
May 5 — Constitution Day of the Kyrgyz Republic
May 9 — Victory Day
August 31 — Independence Day of Kyrgyzstan
November 7 — Day of the Great October Socialist Revolution
Two Muslim holidays — Orozo Ait and Kurman Ait — are determined annually according to the lunar calendar and are established each year by separate resolutions of the Government of Kyrgyzstan. The Day of the People's Revolution, which was celebrated on March 24, was officially abolished. In April 2010, a new revolution occurred, but a holiday in honor of the April Revolution was not established. April 7 is simply considered a memorial day in the Republic — the Day of the People's April Revolution.
