According to a forecast by the company "Alrosa," the world will soon face an increase in diamond prices. This information was released by the company's press service and quoted by the TASS agency.
Alrosa noted that their forecast is based on the observed decline in global diamond production and changes in their prices over recent years. Based on these factors, the company's analysts conclude that the shortage of diamond supply and the rise in prices will continue in the future.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, in August of this year, imports of Russian diamonds to the country increased more than threefold. In the last month of summer, India purchased diamonds worth $31.3 million, while the previous year this figure was only $13.4 million.
However, in the first five months of 2025, exports of Russian diamonds to India decreased by 43 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to 2.1 million carats. In May, exports fell by nearly 40 percent.
