Russia spent a record amount on Brazilian beef

In 2022, Russia increased its import of frozen beef from Brazil to a record level of $472.8 million. This is the highest figure since 2015, according to data provided by RIA Novosti.

According to the agency, Russia has been steadily increasing its meat purchases from Brazil for four consecutive years. Compared to the previous year, import volumes rose by 80%, marking the most significant growth in the last decade. For comparison, in 2015, imports amounted to $546 million.

In 2022, Brazil overall increased its export of frozen beef by 43%, reaching $14.4 billion. Russia, along with Mexico, ranked third among the largest importers, with each country accounting for 3% of the total supply volume. The most active buyers of Brazilian beef are China, which holds 61% of the market, and the USA with 8%.
