"Winter Egg" by Fabergé sold at auction for a record $25.7 million

The "Winter Egg" by Fabergé, which belonged to Nicholas II, was sold at Christie’s auction for a staggering $25.7 million. This was reported by auctioneer Yu Ge Wang at the end of the bidding.

The bidding started at £17 million (equivalent to $22.4 million). In the end, the winning bid amounted to £19.5 million ($25.7 million), and with the commission, the total amount the buyer will pay will reach £22.9 million ($30.2 million).

The identity of the buyer remains a secret.

Previously, the record for the highest price belonged to the "Rothschild Egg," which was sold for $18.5 million at Christie’s auction in 2007.
