The bill concerning medical insurance has been approved in the third reading

The Jogorku Kenesh has approved the bill amending the Law "On Medical Insurance of Citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic" in the third reading. The main goal of this document is to provide patients with complete and clear information about the medical services available to them under the compulsory medical insurance (CMI).

According to the new legislation, medical institutions are required to inform insured citizens about the services they can receive under the state guarantee program, as well as the conditions and quality of these services. This will allow people to be aware of their rights in advance and minimize misunderstandings when seeking medical assistance.

Moreover, the changes strengthen the responsibility of medical institutions, such as hospitals and clinics, for providing information to patients. It is expected that this will contribute to increased transparency in the healthcare system and improve the quality of medical care provided.

The explanatory note to the bill mentions that over 5 million people in Kyrgyzstan are insured under the CMI system, and the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund interacts with 145 medical institutions across the country. Thus, the adoption of this law is aimed at protecting patients' rights and improving access to medical services.
