Citizens with complaints can contact the Ministry of Justice
At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which addressed issues of constitutional legislation and state structure, Deputy Minister of Justice Orozbek Sydykov discussed possible penalties for lawyers whose services are funded by the state.
Sydykov noted that if a lawyer represents the interests of the opposing party or commits other violations, the Ministry of Justice may terminate the contract with them. In such cases, the matters will be referred to the Ethics Commission of the Bar Association with a request for revocation of the lawyer's license.
Additionally, the Ministry of Justice proposed a new draft law to the Jogorku Kenesh that clarifies the procedure for temporarily suspending a lawyer from performing their duties on a specific case and for suspending the contract. This innovation will allow for a more effective response to violations without depriving the lawyer of the opportunity to handle other cases, ultimately contributing to greater fairness for both lawyers and citizens in need of their assistance.
The Deputy Minister also reported that in 2025, the state allocated 140 million soms for guaranteed legal assistance. These funds were distributed among 464 lawyers who provided their services for free.
