In several villages of the Chui region, residents are expressing dissatisfaction due to a sharp increase in electricity bills in December and January. The problem has affected such settlements as Tash-Dobo, Belovodskoye, and the residential area "Ak-Ordo" in Bishkek.

According to local residents, in Tash-Dobo, the bills have increased by significant amounts. "For example, we have an overpayment of 1,800 soms. Many others are in the same situation," they reported.

The villagers tried to find out the reasons for the inflated charges by contacting the ayil okmotu and the RES, but the workers were unable to provide information due to a lack of internet. "We couldn't find out anything," they added.

Residents of Belovodskoye also tried to sort things out on the spot. "When we went to the RES, we were told that they didn't know anything," they stated.

A similar situation is observed in the residential area "Ak-Ordo," where "smart" meters were installed in November. Local residents report that before the installation, they paid an average of 350-400 soms per month, but after that, the amount rose to 600-800 soms in December.

"We paid the bill for January, and an hour later, a new one arrived with a much larger amount. At first, we thought it was a mistake, but it turned out that this was happening to the entire street," one local resident shared.

According to him, half of the residents of "Ak-Ordo," where the meters were replaced, received the new high bills.

Local residents also note that they heat their homes with coal, which makes the increase in electricity consumption inexplicable. When they approached the local electrician, they heard in response: "These are 'smart' meters; I can't say anything."

So far, NESK has not commented on the situation.
