On January 28, during a meeting, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, commented on the decision of the committee on constitutional legislation regarding the rejection of the new national anthem projects due to deficiencies.

He noted: “We carefully reviewed the submitted texts and musical compositions. Unfortunately, none of the proposed anthems proved to be worthy. Therefore, we decided to reject them to allow for further refinement of the works. Our goal is not to change the current anthem, but to ensure that it can be sung by everyone, from children to the elderly. For this, the text and music must be of high quality,” he added.

According to the speaker, the anthems submitted for the competition sound like marches, which are not easy for everyone to sing. “The anthem should be lighter and more accessible, like, for example, ‘Kyrgyz zheri’ or ‘Mekenim meikin.’ We need to move away from the style of the Soviet era. There’s no need to complicate things; let it be a free piece that can be sung everywhere, not just at official events. The competition for a new anthem continues, and we have provided prizes for composers,” Turgunbek uulu addressed the participants of the competition.
