Starting from March 1, 2026, citizens of Uzbekistan who have lived in Turkey for at least three years will be able to automatically obtain work permits. This was reported by the Migration Agency under the government of Uzbekistan, citing information from "Azattyk Asia."

This important agreement was reached during a meeting between Behzod Musaev, the head of the agency, and Vedat Işıkhan, the Minister of Labor and Social Security of Turkey.

According to the new procedure, Uzbeks will need to find an employer, obtain a special visa at the consulate in their home country, and receive approval through an information system to obtain work permits. This will simplify the employment process for citizens of Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, the parties also discussed signing a document under which the Turkish Employment Agency İŞKUR will centrally compile a list of the most in-demand professions in the labor market and send these requests to Uzbekistan.

Additionally, Ankara and Tashkent agreed to continue the legalization of Uzbeks residing in Turkey without permits, avoiding harsh measures such as deportation. This work will be aimed at protecting the rights of migrants and will be systematic in nature.

It was also reported that the Migration Agency signed an agreement with the Turkish company KSK Tezimlik to attract 2,500 Uzbek builders for work on major projects in Ankara. The demand for this workforce is expected to be met within the current year.

The conclusion of these agreements took place during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Ankara.
