At a briefing, the representative of the Ministry of Education, Olga Bryzgalova, stated that the statistics do not confirm a significant outflow of teachers as a result of the transition to a 12-year education system in Kyrgyzstan. According to her, the indicators are within normal limits.

Bryzgalova noted that over the past ten years, the number of schoolchildren has significantly increased. "In 2015, there were 1 million 43 thousand children studying in Kyrgyzstan, and now there are already 1 million 536 thousand. Accordingly, the number of educators has also increased, currently totaling 93.6 thousand," she added.

For comparison, in May 2023, there was a shortage of 698 teachers in schools, and by May 2024, this figure had risen to 894, even before the introduction of the 12-year education system. In May 2025, there was a shortage of 850 educators, Bryzgalova clarified.

To improve the staffing situation, vacancies in educational institutions are being posted in the automated information system "Mugalim." Those interested can register and find work.

"As of January 2026, there is a shortage of 761 teachers in state and municipal schools. The most acute shortage is felt for subjects such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. In particular, the greatest need is observed in the Chui region and Bishkek due to the high population density," concluded Olga Bryzgalova.
