In Kazakhstan, it has been decided not to combine subjects such as physics, chemistry, and biology into one discipline. This is reported by Tengrinews.kz.

The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has confirmed that plans to merge the natural sciences are currently being canceled.

“We aim to create optimal conditions for students to ensure they have a deep and systematic understanding of the fundamental sciences. As of today, the reform to combine these subjects is being suspended. Physics, chemistry, and biology will continue to be taught as separate disciplines,” said Education Minister Zhuldyz Suleimenova.

Information about the possible merging of these subjects appeared in February 2025. It was considered that physics, chemistry, and biology could be combined into a course called "Natural Sciences," while world history and basics of law could be merged into "Social Sciences," and algebra and geometry could become part of the subject "Mathematics." It was expected that the new state standards would come into effect in 2026.

It is worth noting that in Kyrgyzstan, as part of the transition to 12-year education for high school, new educational materials for the "Natural Sciences" course have been developed, which include chemistry, biology, and physics. Teachers will also be able to use old textbooks for individual subjects.

In the 2025/2026 academic year, the merging of subjects did not take place; physics, chemistry, and biology remained separate disciplines.
