Recently, during the international conference "The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals," Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan discussed issues related to 12-year school education, as reported by the Ministry of Education.

As part of the event, a meeting took place between Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan, and Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva, Deputy Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, responsible for science, education, healthcare, and sports.

The parties exchanged views on the development of the educational system, social policy, and the role of women in society, as well as shared experiences in implementing 12-year education.

"This year we celebrate the first graduation of students who have completed the 12-year program implemented in Turkmenistan since 2014. We are ready to share knowledge and experience in this area," Orazdurdiyeva noted.

Kendirbaeva added that in Kyrgyzstan, the 12-year educational system will be launched in September 2025. "Kyrgyzstan will become the second country in Central Asia to implement this program after Turkmenistan. An important step has been the updates to the state educational standards," she emphasized.

It should be noted that students in the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th grades in Kyrgyzstan will transition to the 12-year program in the 2025/26 academic year. Textbooks for the new program are still being produced, but there is a shortage of teachers for a full transition.
