In the new school year, which will begin in 2026/2027, the 12-year education system will not introduce drastic changes in the transition between grades. This was stated at a briefing by Olga Bryzgalova, a representative of the Ministry of Education.
She also noted that in the previous school year, children aged six and seven were admitted directly to the first and second grades. However, in the next year, only six-year-old children will be able to enroll in the first grade, and seven-year-old students will not be promoted to the second grade.
“All children, regardless of age, will start their education in the first grade of the 12-year school,” emphasized Bryzgalova.
Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Abakir Mamytov added that during the transition period, two different educational programs were used — for prepared and unprepared children. In the next school year, a unified educational program is planned to be implemented.
Additionally, Mamytov noted that in the future, the issue of implementing specialized education will need to be addressed, for which a special working group is currently in operation. It is expected that with the introduction of the concept, new questions will arise in schools.
The briefing also mentioned that as part of the educational process update, a continuous education program for teachers is ongoing.
