At the meeting of the Bishkek City Council held on February 9, the head of the education department, Rakhmat Musaev, voiced a proposal to stop dividing classes based on the language of instruction and to teach some subjects in two languages.

She noted that the number of complaints from parents about the lack of qualified teachers is growing. Musaev confirmed that there is a shortage of staff in the capital's schools, amounting to about 400 people, with the greatest shortage felt in Russian-speaking educational institutions. In this regard, she reminded that Kyrgyz classes have started to open in such schools.

According to Musaev, it was proposed to the Ministry of Education to transition to a new model that would avoid the division into Russian and Kyrgyz classes, ensuring instruction in two languages. This implies that some subjects will be taught in Russian, while others will be taught in Kyrgyz, with the potential introduction of English language instruction if feasible.
