Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Temirlan Aitiev drew attention to numerous appeals from ethnic Kyrgyz who moved to Kyrgyzstan regarding the work of state population registration authorities. He noted that these people face manifestations of discrimination and unequal treatment, despite the fact that simplified procedures for obtaining citizenship were created for them.
This primarily concerns Kyrgyz who arrived from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2022, leaving their home countries due to persecution and pressure. According to Article 51, paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and the presidential decree dated January 24, 2024, No. 25, ethnic Kyrgyz with confirmed nationality have the right to a simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship.
The deputy emphasized the importance of adhering to ethical standards by employees of the Centers for Population Services, Cadastre, Architecture, and other state institutions providing services to the public. He urged them to treat all citizens equally, regardless of their citizenship, income, origin, or region of residence.
"People should not be divided into 'black' and 'white', rich and poor, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and foreigners. Everyone should have equal opportunities in service. The state has set clear tasks for you — fulfill them," the parliamentarian stated.
