The increase in the number of cases is related to the improvement of diagnostic methods.

A national conference dedicated to the development of pediatric oncology was held in Bishkek, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, representatives of international organizations, heads of medical institutions, and experts in the field of medicine.

During the conference, the results of the pediatric oncology service's work were summarized after Kyrgyzstan joined the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer.

According to the Ministry, about 200–220 new cases of cancer are registered among children in the country each year. The increase in these figures in recent years is associated with improved diagnostics, the implementation of clinical protocols, and the development of a national cancer registry.

Bakytbek Kadyraliev, in his speech, emphasized the need for innovative treatment methods. He noted that the development of pediatric oncology is not a matter of image, but a matter of saving lives.

The state, he said, must guarantee a sustainable treatment system that is independent of charitable funds.

Among the key tasks identified are reducing the number of cases where patients are forced to go abroad for treatment, increasing the volume of high-tech medical care within the country, and strengthening international cooperation.
